What is Redemption Grace Period and how to get a Domain Name back from it (Restoring a Domain Name in Pending Delete Restorable Status)

Once a domain name is deleted, it would generally slip into the Redemption Grace Period ONLY under the following circumstances:

  • manual deletion of domain name by contacting WEBAIR INTERNET DEVELOPMENT INC Technical Support

  • System deletion of domain name post Expiry of the Renewal Grace Period and the domain name does not have any backorder against it.

In all other cases, a deleted domain name cannot be Renewed/Restored/Redeemed. Click here to find information about our Renewal Grace Period and Domain Name Deletion Policy >>

Redeeming a domain name is costly, time consuming and generally a manual process. The Redemption Grace Period is generally of 30 days after the domain name is deleted and during this period, only the current Registrar of the domain name can Redeem the domain name.

If the domain name is not Redeemed during this period, then it would move to the Pending Delete period for 5 days. In this status, the domain name can not be Redeemed and after this period, the domain name would be available for fresh Registration.

IMPORTANT

  • A .NAME domain name will not be placed under Redemption Grace Period by the Registry upon Deletion. It will be made available for fresh Registration post a Pending Delete period of 5 days, during which the domain name cannot be Redeemed.

  • A .TEL domain name, if not redeemed during the 30 day Redemption Grace Period, would slip into a 5 day Pending Delete period. Post this, the domain name is placed on Delete Lockdown for 60 days and then would be made available for fresh Registration.

  • The Redemption Grace Period for a .CN domain name is 15 days. Moreover, a .CN domain name does not pass through a Pending Delete period. The domain name will be available for fresh Registration after 15 days from the date of Deletion.

Procedure for Restoring any Domain Name in Redemption Grace Period (Pending Delete Restorable Status)

  1. Login to your Control Panel, search for the domain name you wish to Redeem and proceed to the Order Details view. Click here to know how to do so >>

  2. For a domain name under the Redemption Grace Period, you will find a Restore button. Click the same.

  3. You can then move ahead with Redeeming the domain name, by paying for the Invoice so generated. Click here for more details on payment >>

Kindly note that Redemption of a domain name is a lengthy process and hence it would take WEBAIR INTERNET DEVELOPMENT INC upto 5 working days to Redeem a domain name.

IMPORTANT
  • A Restoration action, once completed, cannot be reversed. The only option would be deleting the domain name, in case the same is no longer required. Click here to know how a domain name can be deleted >>

  • Restoration of a domain name (only after deletion by WEBAIR INTERNET DEVELOPMENT INC System post Expiry of the Renewal Grace Period) includes 1 year Renewal. However, Restoration of a .CN domain name will always include 1 year Renewal.
